La Roche-Posay Effaclar H Iso-Biome Ultra Soothing Hydrating Care is a 40 ml moisturiser for blemish-prone skin that has been dried out and irritated by treatment — a very specific and very common predicament. Retinoids, benzoyl peroxide and acids work, but they compromise the skin barrier, leaving skin tight, flaking and stinging, which is why so many people abandon effective treatment partway through. This is formulated for exactly that scenario: it replenishes lipids, restores hydration and supports the skin's microbiome so the barrier recovers while treatment continues, and it soothes the irritation rather than adding to it.
