Glycolic acid is the smallest of the alpha hydroxy acids, which is why it penetrates most effectively — dissolving the bonds holding dead surface cells in place to reveal smoother, brighter skin, and doing so more thoroughly than a physical scrub can without abrading the surface. Used in a cleanser it works while you wash, so exfoliation becomes part of an existing step rather than another product to remember. Over consistent use, skin looks brighter and more even, texture is refined and pores are less congested. It also cleanses properly, removing makeup, oil and build-up.
